Every month, we gather some smart speakers and a curious crowd, add a bar, and create something unique. This month, we’re in Sugamo with talks on the challenges of long COVID here on Earth and the potential of planetary atmospheres light-years away in space. Plus, we have cafe food and craft beer on tap!
Our first speaker is lecturer and writer Ana da Silva:
The COVID pandemic might be officially over, but millions of people continue to live in a different, silent pandemic of an illness known as long COVID. But how do you know you have it, and what does the day-to-day of someone with the illness look like?
Then, Sophia University professor Fuyutsuki Seba:
Recent developments in astronomy and astronomical observations have, or will soon have, the ability to study the composition of planetary atmospheres outside the Solar System. By examining the chemical components of many distant planets, the next generation of scientists will be able to discern processes, from geological to biological, creating a unique mosaic for each planet. What would biological systems, if any, on these planets contribute to their own mosaics? What would the resulting picture be when multiple mosaics are stitched together?
