Every month, we gather some smart speakers and a curious crowd, add a bar, and create something unique. This month, we’re exploring outer space from our new place in Roppongi with talks on extending the Internet to the Moon and a love story connecting us to Pluto! As always, we will have ample food and drink on tap.

First, World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) deputy director Jay Kishigami will discuss the challenges future settlers on the Moon will face when trying to use the Internet, and some possible solutions. Then, the International Astronomical Union’s International Outreach Officer Cintia Durán takes the stage to talk about the scientific implications of planetary exploration, the connection between humans and the stars, and how we relate to the sky!

Remember, this month we are at a new location in Roppongi. Drinks (both alcoholic and non) as well as food will be available. Come early; we’re opening the doors at 7 PM. Drink, meet, and be square-y! Kids are also welcome at Nerd Nite.

You can also find our event information on Facebook and Meetup; check the sidebar for all of our social media and mailing lists. Help us promote Nerd Nite by signing up on our event listings and sharing our social media posts!
